Whistleblowers could be paid to dob in tax cheats

Financial rewards for whistleblowers have been flagged as part of a beefed-up legal framework for protecting people who report corporate malfeasance and tax evasion.

Under plans outlined in a Treasury paper on Wednesday, tax agents and lawyers, among others, would be given specific protection for dobbing in clients who dodge tax.
