Patricia Cross has a wealth of experience in corporate governance and investing in and managing financial assets.

She is currently Chair of the Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation and has filled positions as a non‑executive director of Macquarie Group, Aviva and the National Australia Bank.

Ms Cross is also an experienced Australian non‑executive director, including having served on the boards of Qantas and Wesfarmers.

To add to her achievements, Ms Cross also has senior executive experience in banking, treasury and financial markets coming from her most recent executive role of executive general manager of NAB’s Wholesale and Institutional Bank.

In a joint statement, Treasurer Josh Frydenberg and Minister for Finance Simon Birmingham said the government is confident Ms Cross’ skills and experience will complement the existing board members, and believe she will make a valuable contribution.

The government also looks forward to Michael Wachtel’s ongoing contributions.

He was first appointed to the board on 3 April 2016, bringing vast experience and capability across corporate governance, risk management and global investment markets.

Mr Wachtel will continue to chair the Audit and Risk Committee.

In other board movements, Erin Flaherty and Dr Jane Wilson have recently concluded their terms on the board, with the Morrison government saying their departure leaves the Future Fund in a good position to continue its strong performance in maximising returns over the long‑term.

The government has extended its thanks to Ms Flaherty and Dr Wilson for their significant contributions, and congratulated Ms Cross on her appointment and Mr Wachtel on his reappointment to the board.
