Retail sales recovery uneven despite 10% increase in January
Sales in the retail sector increased by 10.6 per cent in January compared to the same time last year, but some sectors are still facing an uncertain future, reveal new figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

The ABS figures showed year-on-year increases for household goods (up by $902 million or 20 per cent); clothing, footwear and personal accessories (up by $168 million or 8 per cent); department stores (up by $119 million or 8 per cent); and food retailing (up by $1.2 billion or 11 per cent).
