Retail sales disappoint again as expected rebound fails to appear

Australia's retailers are continuing to struggle, with only an insipid rise in sales being recorded in January after surprisingly weak pre-Christmas sales.

Sales edged up in January by just 0.1 per cent in seasonally adjusted terms, failing to claw back much of the 0.5 per cent slump in December.
