Practitioners warned of tax-time scams as losses rise to $2.8m in 2018

With over $2.8 million in reported losses attributed to tax-time scams last year, the ATO is urging practitioners to take steps to protect their practice and their clients.

According to the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC), tax-time scams in 2018 saw more than 114,000 reports and $2.8 million in reported losses, up from $2.4 million in 2017.
