ATO extends deadline for reviewing market-linked pensions

The Australian Taxation Office will now calculate JobMaker Hiring Credit on an adjusted baseline headcount. The ATO said it will amend the prefill in the claim form based on information provided by businesses in earlier claims.

The ATO said this procedure is done each period by calculating the greatest headcount increase that occurred in a period that began 12 months or more before the current claim period. It will then add that increase to the baseline headcount.

This adjustment will happen because eligible businesses can only claim the JobMaker Hiring Credit for up to a year for each additional job they create.

This is the second year of the JobMaker Hiring Credit program (which comprises periods 5 to 8: October 2021 to October 2022).

There is no adjustment for JobMaker periods 1 to 4.
