Financial impact ‘catastrophic’, say businesses seeking compensation for ATO outages
In early July, when the myGov and Australian Taxation Office (ATO) online system went down as thousands of Australians were rushing to lodge their annual tax returns, Tory O'Brien's business came to a halt.
Ms O’Brien runs a small accounting firm in Frankston, Melbourne, called TJS Accounting, and is one of a number of accountants who want the ATO to compensate them for loss suffered by not being able to access the online system used to lodge their clients’ tax returns.
