Accounting industry younger and thriving, says ATO

The accounting profession is younger than ever, more gender equal, and continually growing, according to new ATO data, disproving doomsday prophets who argue that technology will kill off the industry.

ATO Assistant Commissioner Colin Walker has revealed new demographics for the tax and BAS agent population, with 59.8 per cent of practitioners now aged between 23 to 40 years old, at a 50 per cent male to female gender ratio.
