Working smarter

(iPhone, Android, Windows Phone, Blackberry)

Evernote’s promise is that you can capture just about anything – voice, video, images – and save it to the cloud, where you can then access it from just about any device. Ubiquity is its calling card; not only will it index your notes for easy searching, but it will make it simple to keep track of your information no matter your choice of desktop, laptop, tablet or phone.

Cue

(iPhone)

An iPhone can track your calendar and contacts but Cue goes one better, scraping across all your data sources to provide a clean and simple layout of your day at a glance, all intelligently sorted for maximum effect. The base application is free, but if you want integration with Evernote, Salesforce, Yammer or Basecamp data, a premium version is also available.

Orchestra

(iPhone)

At first glance, Orchestra appears to be just another to-do list application, similar to offerings such as Remember The Milk. But where it becomes really powerful is in its collaborative power. Not only can you sort out your tasks within its interface, you can also add any other co-workers – whether they’re using Orchestra or not – into a given task, making it easy to track group progress collaboratively.

Harvest Time

& Expense Tracker

(iPhone, Android)

Harvest started life as a web-based application, but its iPhone equivalent app makes keeping track of time on customer accounts, as well as expenses accrued, a relatively simple affair. This app is free, although you’ll need a Harvest account to utilise it. Because it tracks back to the web application, it’s also quite easy to search at a later date for cross-checking.

LogMeIn/LogMeIn Ignition

(iPhone, Android)

You can get a lot done on a smartphone, but there are times when only your office systems will have the information you need. That’s where a remote login client can save you a lot of time and stress. With the LogMeIn client running on your desktop, you can securely access your desktop through an encrypted connection and run your desktop from your smartphone screen. The free app covers basic desktop use, while the LogMeIn Ignition client covers extended features, such as higher definition imagery and remote file copying.
