Jason is a public accountant with diverse experience. After working in commercial roles early in his accounting career, he began his journey in public practice with David Carr Chartered Accountant (now part of Mark Bouris’ Yellow Brick Road group) in Sydney and then locally in Tasmania with Davey Accounting Group.
He always had a vision of starting his own accounting practice and obtained his Tax Agent’s licence in 2006. Since then, his business has grown rapidly through referrals and a number of significant acquisitions.
Jason has also had valuable experience as an accounting teacher at the former TAFE Tasmania and as a Trust Administrator with Tasmanian Perpetual Trustees Ltd. He’s an accomplished professional director, having served as national deputy president of the Institute of Public Accountants and as director and treasurer of both South Launceston Football Club Inc and Aspire – A Pathway to Mental Health Inc.
His latest undertaking is in capital raising for business entrepreneurs. Through the Australian Small Scale Offerings Board (ASSOB) platform, he assists promising businesses raise much-needed funds in the form of share capital, to take great ideas from concept to commercialisation. This provides Jason with direct exposure to the many challenges faced by Australian small businesses.
Jason has a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree from the University of Southern Queensland and a Diploma of Financial Services (Fin. Planning) with Tribeca (then Integratec), and is currently completing a Masters of Applied Finance. Jason is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants, Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (diploma) and an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.
Jason is married to Helen and has two daughters, Courtney and Kimberly. He loves AFL (an avid Hawthorn member) and enjoys reading, personal development and simply connecting with people. Jason is committed to continuing the innovation process communicated in 2009 at the IPA and looks forward to meeting and working with members in Australia and abroad during his term as president.
