Andrew Conway and I attended a special launch of the reinvigorated brand in Malaysia at the Australian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur in August. In attendance at the ceremony were Ms Majell Hind, Consul-General of the Australian High Commission, Mrs Chau Duncan, Trade Commissioner with Austrade, along with local Malaysian Institute members.
The new brand marks a push into the Asian accounting market, with globally recognised qualifications and designations and increased awareness on the international stage.
Andrew and I attended a launch tour of the new brand in China where the revitalised brand was well received by local members.
In August the Institute was one of almost 100 Australian companies selected to accompany Trade and Acting Foreign Minister Craig Emerson on the Australia-China 2.0 Trade Mission to China’s booming inland cities.
Closer to home, Andrew and I recently hosted His Excellency Ambassador Chen Yuming, Chen Ji Liang, Zhao Jian and Xu Danyang from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Australia for a networking dinner. The event allowed the Institute the opportunity to showcase its educational services to members in China.
IPA contributes to APEC initiative
In early September Andrew represented the Institute and its members at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in San Francisco. The forum provided the Institute with an opportunity to contribute towards global accounting services.
Debut at the CAPA conference
Following on from our admittance to the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA), the Institute made its debut as a proud platinum sponsor at the 18th CAPA conference 2011 in Brisbane. The program and theme of ‘APAC Powerhouse: opportunities for the accounting profession’ brought together influential and accomplished leaders.
