From the CEO: A new direction

Since the revitalisation of the Institute of Public Accountants, we have gained some outstanding momentum with a number of new developments in a short period of time, including our recent admittance to the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA).

From the CEO: Enhancing partnerships and relationships

The renewal of the Institute has also prompted an evaluation of our processes to ensure that we remain relevant and aligned to meet today’s best practice.

The recent enhancement of our corporate governance framework will help to ensure long-term growth through greater operational efficiencies, modernising our current practices and most importantly, enhancing member engagement. This fundamental transformation will also help to increase the awareness and recognition of our members and the Institute.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank all current and past members who have helped to shape the Institute to the organisation it is today.

Lobbying and advocacy

We continue to actively seek opportunities to represent the views of members. The Institute was instrumental in securing a win for members with the ATO announcing that it would make administration arrangements around the taxation of trust income for the 2010/11 year.

The Institute continues to be involved with the Government, Treasury, ASIC and other stakeholders in the ongoing and extensive consultations on the Future of Financial Advice reforms. We are currently urging the Government to provide greater detail on its proposed licensing regime. Another major reform in which we are extensively involved is the proposed registration of SMSF auditors.
